PaperLite 2020

PaperLite 2020

Renewal applications generate thousands of pounds of paper every year and significant costs in postage and returned mail. Most important to licensees and registrants, is that renewing online reduces processing times significantly: licensee and registrant renewals can be processed within 24 to 48 hours. As such, in the interest of reducing the Board of Psychology’s (Board’s) carbon footprint, conserving natural resources, reducing mailing costs, and making the best use of licensee/registrant renewal fees, the Board is going PaperLite for all license and registration renewals. This move to PaperLite is part of the Board’s 2019-2023 Strategic Plan.

How this impacts you

Effective January 7, 2020, licensees will no longer receive the automated renewal application coupons mailed to your address of record. Instead licensees will receive a postcard reminder to renew online at https://www.breeze.ca.gov.

To aid licensees and registrants in this transition, the Board recommends that licensees and registrants that are not currently registered on the BreEZe system set up their account now to avoid any technological or account issues when trying to renew close to the expiration date of your license.

For information on setting up your BreEZe account and renewing online, please visit the BreEZe Online Services – First Time User Instructions page at https://www.psychology.ca.gov/about_us/breeze.shtml for video and text tutorials and information on setting up your account and renewing.

If you are unable to renew online through the BreEZe system, you may renew by mail. Licensees and registrants will be able to renew by mail by downloading and submitting the appropriate renewal form from our website.

  • For Psychologists, use the following renewal form
    https://www.psychology.ca.gov/forms_pubs/lic_renewal.pdf
NOTE: if you mail the application more than 75 days prior to your license expiration date, the form and payment will be returned to you.
  • For Psychological Associates, use the following form
    https://www.psychology.ca.gov/forms_pubs/psb_renewal.pdf
NOTE: if you mail the application more than 75 days prior to your license expiration date, the form and payment will be returned to you.

If you decide to renew by mail with a printed application, please keep in mind that the manual process can take up to six weeks. After the renewal is approved by the Board, it can take another two to three weeks for you to receive the pocket license in the mail.
